The DDJs New Groove | AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 | I DJ NOW

We’ve got the latest controller from the DDJ line and no, it’s not from Pioneer. It’s from AlphaTheta.

The DDJ-GRV6 is made for the club-style DJ who loves to craft remixes on the fly, with large jog wheels perfect for scratching, and pulls from popular CDJ and DJM models. For example, just like the flagship CDJ-3000, you have 8 performance pads positioned above the jog wheels. You’ve also got Beat FX coming over from the popular DJM-A9 mixer.

One crazy new feature you’ll find on the GRV6 is the aptly named Groove Circuit. When you use the dedicated buttons of the Groove Circuit, you can Drum Swap to change the drum parts of a track with different drum loops, create impromptu Drum Loops and Transitions, apply Release FX to drum parts to easily create breakdowns, and you can even use Capture to extract drum parts of a track to drop them into another track later.

It’s important to note that this feature is only accessible when using rekordbox.

In Serato DJ Pro, these dedicated buttons control your Stems FX. You’re able to assign effects such as Roll, Trans, Echo Out, and Delay to separate Stems of a track – so drums, bass, vocals, or melody. AlphaTheta has included an overlay sheet so you can change the button labels over to Stems FX for your convenience.

The GRV6 is equipped with a USB-C port for bus-powered operation (additional power supply needed when using smartphones).

And for I/O, you have a mic input, 2 headphone inputs, a booth output, and 2 master output options.

The unit is light and portable, weighing in at just around 10 lbs.
