Electro-Voice EVERSE 12, Big Sound Meets Battery Power | I DJ NOW

When Electro-Voice launched the EVERSE 8, their first battery-powered speaker, the pro audio community lost their minds. So, naturally, Electro-Voice is looking to keep that momentum going with the EVERSE 12. It’s bigger…it’s louder…and it’s here!

Today we are checking out the Electro-Voice EVERSE 12. Just like the EVERSE 8, the EVERSE 12 is a fantastic battery-powered speaker that, as Electro-Voice puts it, provides real pro-audio performance. And with an IP43 rated weatherized design and custom lithium-ion battery that provides up to 12+ hours of run time, it’s ready for anything you can throw at it. If you’re a musician, mobile DJ, rental house or event company, you’re going to love the EVERSE 12.

As the name suggests, the EVERSE 12 features a 12” woofer with a ferrite magnet. With the bigger woofer comes bigger sound. The EVERSE 12 has a maximum SPL of 126 dB, deep low-end frequency response reaching as low as 45 Hz up to 20k Hz, and a wide coverage of 100 degrees x 60 degrees. You’ve also got a 1” ferrofluid cooled compression driver with a neodymium magnet.

On the back panel, you’ve got:

  • An LCD screen showing your QuickSmart DSP control and monitoring
  • A Master Volume knob that lets you adjust the sound level and navigate the DSP control menu,
  • Inputs 1 and 2, each with a combi-jack with balanced connection for signal sources like mixers, instruments, or microphones, as well as 48V phantom power on Input 1, and you can assign DSP control to either input with the input selection soft keys
  • Inputs 3 and 4 are a stereo channel for either Bluetooth stereo or analog stereo via 3.5mm mini-jack,
  • A Mix Out XLR output, for sending either the mix of all the input signals or a stereo left or right signal if you’re running this with another loudspeaker or subwoofer with a 2000 Hz crossover frequency
  • An input for an optional footswitch to toggle FX on and off
  • A mobile device charging port
  • IEC connection, power switch, and a DC power out, which can be used to power wireless microphone receivers.

If you’re caught in some bad weather, you can protect all of this with the included Input Weather Cover

All the fun stuff goes on inside the speaker, thanks to Electro-Voice’s QuickSmart DSP, which you can access on board or via the QuickSmart Mobile App. QuickSmart DSP gives you access to parameters that allow you

to finetune the EVERSE 12 to any event situation you might find yourself in. Aside from a 4-channel digital mixer, you’ve also got mode presets, feedback suppression, audio ducking, and studio-quality effects.

Like the EVERSE 8, the EVERSE 12’s battery is removable. This custom lithium-ion battery can last up to 12 hours when running at 100 dB or up to 6 hrs at max output.

The cabinet of the EVERSE 12 allows you to place it traditionally, kick it back, or lay it down as a monitor, as well as being pole mountable.

Electro-Voice offers a variety of accessories for the EVERSE 12 including a padded duffle bag, accessory tray, spare battery packs, and a rain cover.
