Founded by James Bullough Lansing, JBL Pro was originally called Lansing Manufacturing during the 1920s, and managed to survive through the depression era by selling speakers to radio companies. Eventually, the company’s Los Angeles headquarters became a testing ground for new audio technology. In 1969, Harman Professional acquired JBL, adding it to their huge roster of audio brands.
